Naqshbandi (Naqshbandiyya) is one of four major Sufi orders (tariqa) of Islam. It claims to have begun with Abu Bakr a constant companion of Prophet Muhammad and father-in-law, whereas most other turuq (Chishtia, Suhrawardiyya and Qadiriyyah) trace their lineage from the Prophet Muhammad through Ali ibn Abu Talib.
